ImageFX and AmigaOS 3.5

While AmigaOS 3.5 is a fantastic upgrade to our beloved Amiga, it does appear to have a few rough spots. Fortunately none of these are so troublesome that we can't find a way to work around them.

The primary problem discovered so far include the following:

  1. Corrupted/Garbaged Backdrop Image
  2. Missing Cycle Gadgets/Layers Menu
  3. CyberGraphX problems

Here are the suggested fixes for these problems:

  1. With the older picture.datatype (v.43.764) in your Classes/ Dataypes you can use the backdrop.iff. Otherwise you'll have to delete or rename backdrop.iff (found in the ImageFX4 drawer) to prevent it from being accessed.
  2. Use Thorsten Willert's patch that allows both the old and the new chooser.gadget (this is the cause of the cycle gadget problems) co-exist in your Workbench. This patch simply allows the old chooser.gadget to be renamed choozer.gadget. You can find this patch on Aminet and in our FTP site as well.
  3. Reinstall CyberGraphX 4 from it's CDROM. If you don't own CyberGraphX 4 - buy it! It's worth it.

We hope these little notes are of use to you and help you avoid these problems for now.
