It is often helpful to hear what other users are
doing with an application. If you would like to ask other Aladdin4D
users about techniques and uses of Aladdin4D you can subscribe to

The Aladdin's Lamp Newsletters have been converted to this HTML
archive and updated by the following individuals (Listed in
alphabetical order):
- Wil Haslup
- Robert Karstedt
- Bob Lanham
- Rod Volkmar
- John Whiting
- Kermit Woodall
In converting these we tried to maintain the integrity of the
original newsletters. Where changes in the interface or operation
of version 5.x of Aladdin have warranted we have made revisions in
the spirit of the original tutorials. We have made an effort to be
as accurate as possible in this. The revisions are minimal and
generally only concern differences in names and menus.
Items within the table of contents of each issue's page that are
no longer relevant are not included and are not highlighted as
links within the issue.

A Short History of Aladdin's Lamp
Aladdin's Lamp was originally published on paper under the name
"4D Pro Master" in the 4th Quarter of 1991. Each issue also
included one or more diskettes containing article-related drawings,
new tools, etc. Issue number six, in the 1st Quarter of 1993 was
the first issue under the name Aladdin's Lamp, when Greg Gorby
changed the name of his software from Draw 4D Pro to Aladdin4D.
Aladdin's Lamp continued until issue number eighteen, in the 1st
Quarter of 1996. Those original eighteen issues can be found here.
It was around that time that Nova Design purchased Greg Gorby's
interest in both the software, Aladdin4D, and the original
newsletter materials. Nova Design continued development of
Aladdin4D, but had few resources available for updating the wealth
of information and tutorials in the original Aladdin's Lamp.
In late 1998, however, a group of volunteers, headed by Wil
Haslup, offered to bring Aladdin's Lamp up to date and translate it
to electronic format. The effort was successful, and went faster
than anticipated, allowing Kermit Woodall to announce the
re-issuing of the newsletters in March of 1999.
Aladdin's potential has not been exhausted, however, and it was
decided to launch a new series of Aladdin's Lamp newsletters, now
under the editorship of John A. Whiting and Wil Haslup. Those new issues
are available here.
